Quinn - Ames, Iowa
Quinn is a freshman in the honors program at the Iowa State University's Ivy College of Business, majoring in business economics and political science. As a pre-law student and as the former leader of his high school's independent political club, Quinn is looking to make a difference in his community through legal service and advocacy while embracing his passion for government. In high school, Quinn was Co-Captain and Drive Coach of his local FIRST Robotics Competition team which qualified for the world championships 4 years in row. As an Eagle Scout, community service has played a huge role in Quinn's development as well as his aspirations for the future.
Ryleigh - Bluemont, Virginia
Ryleigh is a freshman at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. She is majoring in biology and hopes to attend medical school after graduating. As a doctor, she hopes to work in pediatrics, specifically at a children's hospital. In high school, Ryleigh participated in and was co-captain of the varsity cross country, tennis, and track teams; she was also president of her high school's Health Occupations club (HOSA). She attended the state and international HOSA conferences, and has been involved with the program for four years. Ryleigh also founded her high school's first environmental club, as she enjoys spending much of her time outdoors. She particularly enjoys running, tennis, and horseback riding, and hopes to continue to be involved in these activities during her time at Middlebury.
Jacob - Seattle, Washington
Jacob graduated from Stanford University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science with Honors (BSH) in Biology and is currently a first year medical student at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. In college, Jacob did pediatric neurology research in the Monje Lab and Gibson Lab. This led to two research publication authorships and the development of clinical trial-bound drugs for Chemotherapy Related Cognitive Impairment. He also was a Resident Assistant in a first-year dorm at Stanford and volunteered with the Cardinal Free Clinics - Stanford Healthcare's free community clinics. After graduating, he worked at Genentech doing drug development research in the neurosciences division of the company. This past year, Jacob also started a two-year term on the CFF Compass Advisory Board. Ultimately, Jacob hopes to become a pediatric subspecialist where he can use his first-hand experiences as a cystic fibrosis patient to care for pediatric patients and their families. This is Jacob's 2nd ENF award.
Molly - Union, Kentucky
Molly is a freshman at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. She was accepted into the Lewis Honors College and is majoring in Biology. She is a premed hopeful with plans for a career in dermatology. During high school, Molly completed four years of dance and finished with a 4.385 GPA. Molly was an active member of the National Honor Society and Science Honor Society through which she completed service in the Cystic Fibrosis community and tutored younger classmates in Chemistry and Biology. In her free time Molly loves to swim, play golf, and visit amusement parks.
Josh - Gilbert, Arizona
Josh is a junior at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. He is pursuing a degree in Marketing (Professional Sales) and a certificate in Applied Business Data Analytics. Josh enjoys participating in clubs such as the ProSales Club, American Marketing Association, and the Sundevil Roundnet Club. Throughout college he has been on the Dean’s List and part of the ASU Leaders Academy. In his free time, Josh loves to stay active and play sports. His favorites are basketball, volleyball, spikeball and frisbee. Josh earned his Eagle Scout award at 15 and has continually been striving to give back to his community since. Through the skills learned from college and other activities, Josh is excited to be able to make a difference both in the CF community and his own.
Mia - Salt Lake City, Utah
Mia is a freshman at the University of Utah. She is planning to major in Environmental Studies and potentially pursue a career in environmental law. Mia hopes to aid in the resolution of the climate crisis through lobbying for policy and increasing public awareness and education. Mia has a passion for the outdoors and spends most of her time competing in trail ultra marathons in her hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. She hopes to influence more young children with CF to pursue physical activity for pleasure as well as an additional method of treatment.
Alex - Gibson City, Illinois
Alex is a sophomore and member of the Campus Honors Program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. During his first year, Alex served on the social committee for the Honors Student Council and participated in University Chorus. He is studying astronomy and hopes to use his degree to educate people on the world beyond our own and be part of the effort to explore the universe. Since the age of six, Alex has performed in the local community theater, ACT, and he spent this summer volunteering as Assistant Director for ACT’s productions of Disney Frozen Kids and High School Musical, Jr. Alex is looking forward to participating in astronomy research in the spring of 2023. This is his second ENF award.
Will - Westwood, Massachusetts
Will is a second year student at the University of Vermont and is majoring in Environmental Engineering. In high school he was elected to the National Honor Society, and was a four year member of the track and cross country teams, as well as his school’s drama club and select acapella group, all while working part-time. He is an avid runner who enjoys hiking, camping, reading, watching movies, and spending time with friends. He also enjoys theatre and the arts and is a staunch believer in social justice.
